In other news. It was my birthday on the 4th, which I spent eating goodies, (homemade cheesecake and chocolate chip cookies), reading two Harry Dresden novels and working my butt off on my Pecha Kucha talk. Its the last thing I need to finish up before I can get back to scripting Walking the Lethe. I can hardly wait. I’ve finally got some pretty clear ideas on how chapter 8 will go down and then I just have to patch up one or two scenes in 6.

BTW I’m 30 and I still don’t feel like a grown up.

Hey Folks.

We’re still working away on the book. It’s almost finished with the layout. We’re just waiting on a few more elements to tie it all together. Gotta be off to the printer at the end of the month. Hopefully next week we’ll be able to show you all the cover.

In the meantime how about another bit of concept art?

In the original script of issue 3 there was a much more extended confrontation between Wendy and Richard. In that scene Wendy gets a wee bit upset and her freaky robotic soul makes an appearance. Adwarr was really amused by Wendy’s concept and did quite a few character studies of Wendy for this scene.

Been working on nonstop to assemble the book, we’ve just completed the first editing pass and discovered that I have a lot of fixing to do. This week I’ll be squashing typos as fast as I can. Once the book is at the printer by the 31st I’ll start replacing pages in the archive too. So never fear grammar fans! WtL is about to get all proper like.

Every once in a while I stumble onto and discover comics that I find excellent and yet have next to no one reading them (according to project wonderful). A comixtalk post pointed me to this particularly dark gem: The Complex by Douglas Noble. Four scientists wait in an abandoned research complex for the end of the world to reach them. Its a dark, moody tale that takes both its characters and situation seriously. Its almost done with one chapter to go. Very worth reading it now and then waiting for this last chapter. Its going to be a doozy I bet.

That news out of the way I want to express just how awesome this first panel on today’s page is. It really hurt me to cover it with dialog. So here it is, un edited. I always wanted a tree house like that growing up. (Never could figure out how to get the NES up there with the TV though.)
